Volunteering During The Pandemic

I was soo shocked i immediately turned on my laptop and wrote this. I just read a news saying that the number of positive cases of Covid-19 here in my country has reached up to 5000. This is c r a z y. The number escalated quickly from 4000 to 5000 in just 3 days. I don’t know who to blame here as i don’t have the capacity to talk about it but this increasing number of cases sure worries the hell out of me.

Due to this issue, the head of my housing complex implemented a ‘local lock down’ as a way to help to stop the spreading of the virus. Under no circumstances are outsider allowed to enter my neighborhood, and vice versa.

With this kind of situation, we often question ourselves: what can i do to help us against this virus?

By simply staying at home, reducing the frequency of meeting people, washing our hand, we can contribute in fighting against the virus. But how can we help people in need -Those who suffer from the pandemic as they got an unpaid leave or being laid off- when we can’t even leave our house?

Our current situation gives us a hard choice. Humanity wise, it’s just very heartbreaking to see ourselves being ‘safe and sound’ staying at our house while there are plenty of people suffering because they can’t get any incomes. Instead of being safe, staying at home forces them to be able to survive with their limited stock of daily needs.

But thanks to the advance of the digital technology nowadays, we can still do things we never imagined will be able to do without being physically present. We can help those in needs in just one click. We can even volunteer ourselves as a part of fundraising programs held by a lot of NGOs to help the unfortunates and the medical workers in surviving during this pandemic situation. And of course, we are volunteering via online! I feel beyond happy that, even in this kind of situation, we are still able to be humane and value our life for the good of others.

Stay safe dear everyone,
Stay at home!
